Great vision, and one that seems consistent with a Virtual Peace Garden, although we can never forget the really limited global access to SL, the really limited demographic using the space. I don't really think the Virtual Peace Garden is going to facilitate global interconnectedness through SL, but I do hope it motivates users to pursue "a better world" "more quickly than might [otherwise] have happened."
